"Confessions of a Shopaholic" by Sophie Kinsella

I would not recommend this book to anyone (unless you already own it and are on a Chapters buying diet like myself). I did what I hate doing which is read the book after seeing the movie. However I barely found the two similar. The plot lines were completely different and maybe it is the order in which I did this, but I preferred the movie.

For half of the book, Kinsella describes the excitement Rebecca Bloomwood feels when she is shopping while the remainder is an expression of her sulking over finances. She is a completely unrealistic character and not relatable to most women.  I found this book dull compared to the work done by the three screenplay writers for the movie. In the film Rebecca travels and aspires to work for a fashion magazine (which makes obvious sense for her). Plus the romance with Luke Brandon is much hotter.  If you want to read a good book by Sophie Kinsella, stick with The Undomestic Goddess.
